    Hi!

Considering the Date picker CV. It shows months in plain text and it can be configured to show buttons for today and clearing the input field. All labels in English. I can not find a way to localize these strings.

Date picker has a configuration option “Enable I18N” but the only documentation I can find about it is its tooltip which says “Enable internationalization for this control”. How does this work?

Generalizing the question, which CVs have this option and how do you generally work with it?

    Regards, Jan

    Jan:

The I18N service is specified on the Configuration object.  I will make sure the doc indicates this from now on.  You need to put a configuration control on the page, and then specify an I18N service.  The default is English, but you can use it as a guide.

    Hope this helps

OK thanks. I see that the strings are fetched from a resource bundle. If you so please you could add Swedish to it. I would do the translation. Just let me know.

Are there more CVs using localization like this?

    Hi Jan,

Full Internationalization is on our roadmap, however that roadmap is now controlled by IBM. We will add the request for Swedish to be added to our Resource Bundle and see when it can make it into the release schedule.

There are more more controls using localization like this. I believe every control is localization enabled, although the number of language options is very limited.

    Hello,

I explored this and found helpful to get my calendar in Swedish. But interestingly while testing, I tried to override the Locale to French having Svenska as my default language, but the control didn’t show me French labels, instead it was showing Swedish.

I tried setting Locale values to ‘fr’, ‘French’, ‘_fr’. But it’s not overriding to French. What is the correct way and value to do this?

    Hi Saroj,

We are looking at potentially implementing Localization completely for sometime in the beginning of next year.  For the time being, even the Resource bundles that we do have are all in English for testing purposes.

Great to know that you are planning to incorporate this change. For time being we have achieved this by extending the CONTROL resource bundle, I18N ajax service and using Configuration control.

    Hi Saroj,

I am glad to see that you were able to find this work around.

    Hi,

please where are we going to have localization available? For date pickers, validation messages for regexps, Rich Text Editor, File List etc. It is currently blocking us heavily on a customer project with SPARK EE. We need to avoid hacking SPARK UI itself as it generates unpredictable and significant costs.

    Thanks a lot,

    Radek

    Hi Radek,

Please use the Submit a Ticket option under Get Help.  We will need to know who the Enterprise customer is, and specific Reproduction steps for each issue.

    Regards,

    Stephen P.
