Tooltip control issue

Hi

The control ‘Tooltip’ has to show the help text on hover but the issue with the control is that the help text keeps blinking when i hover over the label of the output text placed inside tooltip control and when i hover on the value it works fine.

Can u pls let me know if this a known issue or there is some workaround to fix the blinking when i hover over the output text label placed inside tooltip control

Would also like to know why the help text is not working for output text control directly without involving this tooltip control, because in Responsive coaches output text control help text used to work fine

Which version of BPM and SPARK are you using, and which browser(s) are you experiencing the issue with?

I am using BPM 8.6.0 and BPM UI Toolkit(8.6.0.0). Help text is not working for output text control and Tooltip control help text keeps blinking if value is empty for the output text inside the tooltip control. Pls check

Hi Apurva,

The Tooltip control label replaces the control label that is placed within the content box.  Therefore, if the Tooltip label is not displayed, the Output Text label is hidden, and the Output Text has no value, the containing div does not have any height.

Try setting the Tooltip configuration options for Show Label checked and Label Placement to Left for Output Text controls with no value.

Thanks for your solution but I need Label Placement to Top for Output Text control. Any other setting that might help with the blinking issue?

In Output Text Control, there is “Help” below “Label”. Any idea why this help text is not working standalone in an output text control for spark? Because in Responsive coaches, help text for output text control is working fine.

Hi Apurva,

If you need to have the label placement set to Top and the coach view loads without any value in the Output text control, you may need to add some CSS to give the Output Text and initial height.

As for the Help text, the SPARK UI was not designed to use Help text as a Tooltip.  If you feel that this is a feature that should be included in BPM UI out of the box, please use the IBM Request for Enhancement submission process:

Setting initial height in CSS might not be an optimal solution because when the help text is 30 characters and irrespective of the initial height that i have set, the help text will overlap with the label on hover and it keeps on blinking even if value is present in the output text control.

Why is it blinking in the first place?Is it any issue from tooltip control?

I was able to reproduce this issue after some further testing.  I will open a potential defect for the SPARK UI toolkit.

Can you please let me know if there is any interim fix for this issue as we are facing it right now in production and when can we expect a more permanent solution to this issue.
